Gold Award 2002
Math riddles invite children to discover patterns and strategies for adding at a glance, instead
of having to count objects pictured one by one. This is a
younger book than last season's winner, The Grapes of Math.
While each riddle is explained with a niffty solution, we hope
readers will note that there is more than one way to solve each
of the riddles. While the underlying idea here is to promote
open-ended thinking, the answers in the back of the book may
in fact get in the way of flexible thinking. We suggest looking
for another way to get the answers other than the one offered
by the author.
Age: Early School Years (5-7)
